WESTAF

The Valdez Arts Council is proud to bring world class artists to our small town, and we couldn’t do it without the help of the Western Arts Federation.  WESTAF is committed to the development and preservation of the arts.  We can thank them for the fabulous Te Vaka show and outreach, and also look forward to Juno award winning guitarist Robert Michaels in March.  If you would like to learn more about WESTAF please visit their website. http://www.westaf.org/

Calder Quartet on the way…

Calder Quartet visits the snowy little town of Valdez on March 10th.  Not sure what the program will look like, but these guys have a big repertoire.  Collaborating with indie rock groups like Vampire Weekend, recently releasing new works by American minimalist composer Terry Riley, and of course, the classics like Mozart.  Should be fun.  See you there.

A rock-n-roll show???

Big Fat Buddha has just been added for January 22nd.  We decided to try a rock-n-roll sort of event and do something in the civic center ballroom.  It’s our mission to provide a variety of events, and this time, we went electric so to speak.  These guys put on a great act and have been moving and shaking around Anchorage.  Opening act is Valdez’s own Halluce -a-moose.  Cash bar and fun awaits.  Show is open to all ages.

X-Mas Show Update

Plans for our annual X-Mas show are proceeding well. The list of performers has been finalized and we’re just working out the kinks and last minute details. Right now we could still use a hand with more baked goods. The show should be great and we hope to see you there. Plan an hour and-a-half, two hours max. Please contact us to get involved.

Thanks and happy holidays from the Valdez Art’s council!
